Abstract

Introduction: Physiotherapist communication with elderly people with aphasia is quite challenging. Aim: identifying, the most important communication skills to be developed in physiotherapists. Method: a four-round Delphi methodology was used. It is an interative, multi-step process gathering the opinions of participating experts to provide consensus on the area under study. After analyzing the answers from the 1st round, the questions for the second round were formulated and so on until a consensus was reached. Results: In the first round, 29 skills were identified, of which 28 achieved a consensus. Regarding the 10 most important communication skills, consensus was reached in the fourth round of the study. Conclusions: This study allowed to identify the most important communication skills to be developed in physical therapists’ interventions with elderly people with aphasia.
