Myths and stereotypes about old age and aging

Abstract

Objectives: To map, characterize and analyze evidence, concepts and main characteristics of international studies on myths and stereotypes of old age and aging. Methodology: Scoping review protocol on indexed literature, collected in databases. The eligibility of studies will be verified by independent researchers, responsible for evaluating titles, abstracts, keywords and full texts. Disagreements will be resolved by a third researcher. The Parsifal tool will be used for registration and process management. A customized data extraction form was produced from the studies included:original peer-reviewed articles published in English, until July 2022, which discuss or investigate old age and aging myths and stereotypes. Expected results: description of the main myths and stereotypes on the subject, regarding the types and concepts. Relevance: this is an unprecedented research, aiming to characterize and generate a database on the topic of interest at a global level.
